               Fast Facts:

·       58 children are currently on the waiting list for scholarships

 

·       36% of Hilltop’s children are from minority and ethnic groups

 

·       43% of Hilltop’s children live in single-parent families

 

·       Child care fees are established on a sliding scale based on

        

         household income

  

·       In 2008, Hilltop Neighborhood House provided more than $125,000 in

       scholarships to low-income families in Porter County… approximately 

       $2400 every week!

Our Goal:

 

To raise funds to provide scholarships

 

to low income families for their children to be able to

 

attend Hilltop Neighborhood House

 Child Care Center. 

·       $65 provides a 50% scholarship for one week for a preschooler

 

·       $145 provides a full scholarship for a toddler for a week

 

·       $300 provides 2 weeks of care for a 2 year old.

 

·       $620 provides a full month of care for an infant.

Volunteering at Hilltop Neighborhood House

  • Rocking our babies and assisting the infant caregivers
  • Engaging children in various activities such as art, dramatic play,
     music, story time, active play, etc.
  • A hour shift per week commitment
  • Both men and women are welcome

Front Desk

  • Greet children and parents as they come in
  • Answer and direct telephone calls
  • Answer questions about Hilltop
  • Simple office tasks
  • Orientation and training will be provided

Village Food Pantry

  • Volunteers are needed to help stock shelves, greet and assist clients. 
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings, 9 am to noon.

Volunteering at the Reiner Community Center

 

GET INVOLVED!

 

    The community can use your talents, and you will get to know your neighbors.  We are always open to new ideas, but here are some examples of opportunities to get involved:

  • Spend two hours a week at Will Park to make sure kids are safe
          • Learn about crime prevention and participate in the neighborhood crime watch
          • Mentor a child
          • Chaperone neighborhood youth on field trips
